Your personal style advisor

A personal style advisor is one person responsible for curation, fit and judgement across everything you buy — rather than a different salesperson in every shop, none of whom knows what is already in your wardrobe. In Caprice, every member is matched with one, either in a partner boutique in their city or online by video.

What an advisor actually does

What does a personal style advisor do?

The work divides into three parts. Curation: narrowing what exists to what suits you, for a specific occasion, season or trip. Fit: making sure a garment is right for your proportions before it is bought, and commissioning alterations or a made-to-measure piece when it is not. Judgement: telling you when something is wrong for you, which is the part no recommendation engine does well and the part most worth paying for.

What distinguishes an advisor from a shop assistant is continuity. Because the same person handles your wardrobe over time, the advice compounds: they know the jacket you bought two seasons ago, the trousers that never worked, and the wedding you have in June.

How Caprice matches you

How does Caprice match me with a style advisor near me?

Matching runs on three inputs: where you are, what you have told the app about your taste and how you like clothes to fit, and what you have bought. Advisors are attached to partner boutiques and to brands on the platform, so the pool in your city determines whether you are matched locally or online.

Advisor coverage opens city by city, which is why members are admitted to Caprice in groups rather than all at once. Online video sessions are available everywhere from the start — the constraint is on in-person fittings, not on the relationship.

What your advisor can see

What information does my style advisor have about me?

Your advisor works from your measurement profile, your purchase and fit history, and the preferences you have set. The app records nine body measurements — chest, shoulders, waist, hips and seat, neck, sleeve, bicep, wrist and thigh — alongside three things a tailor needs that are not lengths: your preferred fit, your posture and your shoulder slope.

That last group is why fit advice through the app can be more than a size lookup. Two people with identical chest measurements need different jackets if one stands with a forward head carriage or has sloping shoulders, and those are exactly the adjustments that off-the-rack sizing cannot express.

For ready-to-wear sizing, three of those measurements do the work: chest, shoulders and pelvis, mapped onto the Italian scale from 44 to 70. That mapping is what lets the app pick your size rather than asking you to guess it.

The advisor and the AI concierge are not the same thing

What is the difference between the AI concierge and my advisor?

Caprice runs both, deliberately, with different jobs. The AI concierge does retrieval and admin: finding pieces, comparing fits, checking what is in your wardrobe, surfacing options for an occasion, tracking an order. It is fast, it is available at three in the morning, and it does not get tired of your questions.

The advisor does the judgement. Which of the three shortlisted jackets is right for the event. Whether a cloth will look cheap under photography. When to tell you that something does not suit you. Caprice is built so the software handles volume and the person handles taste, because the reverse — automating the taste and hiring people to do lookups — is how this category usually goes wrong.

Common questions

Do I meet my style advisor in person?

Both are available. If there is a partner boutique in your city you can be matched to an advisor there and have fittings in person. Everywhere else, sessions run online by video, with the advisor working from your measurement profile and your digital avatar. Online coverage is available from launch; in-person coverage expands city by city as partner boutiques join, which is why membership opens in groups.

Can I change advisors?

Yes. The value of the relationship is that it accumulates context, but that only helps if the fit between you and the advisor is right in the first place. Your measurement profile, wardrobe and purchase history belong to your account rather than to any individual advisor, so they move with you if you switch.

Is a personal style advisor the same as a personal shopper?

They overlap, but the scope differs. A personal shopper is usually attached to one store and paid to move that store's inventory. A Caprice advisor works across every brand on the platform and is responsible for fit and commissioning as well as selection, including specifying made-to-measure and bespoke pieces when nothing off the rack is right for you.
